Transmitir preguntas
Una pregunta transmitida ya no es una pregunta — y tampoco se construye como tal.
En cuanto una pregunta se transmite, pierde la construcción interrogativa: no se invierten sujeto y verbo, no hay do y no hay signo de interrogación. She asked where I lived, no where did I live.
Si la pregunta lleva partícula interrogativa, esa palabra se queda como enlace. Si es una pregunta de sí o no, ocupa su lugar if o whether: He asked if I had time.
Aquí el español empuja en la dirección equivocada, y con fuerza. «No sé dónde está la estación» pone el verbo delante del sujeto y es correctísimo; su calco, I do not know where is the station, es uno de los errores más audibles del inglés hablado. En inglés, después del interrogativo va sujeto y luego verbo, siempre.

En la pregunta indirecta va el orden de la frase enunciativa.
I do not know where she is.No sé dónde está.
En la pregunta indirecta no hay do, does ni did.
He asked what I wanted.Preguntó qué quería yo.
Sin partícula interrogativa va if o whether.
She asked whether we were coming.Preguntó si íbamos.
whether va delante de or not y detrás de preposición; if no.
It depends on whether they agree.Eso depende de si están de acuerdo.

Aufgepasst
El español coloca el verbo antes del sujeto en la subordinada interrogativa y lo hace sin pensar, así que el error se produce solo — y aún más cuando la frase empieza con una pregunta de verdad: Could you tell me where is the station? Ahí sigue habiendo una pregunta indirecta detrás, y ahí también va el sujeto primero.
Pregunta transmitida: sujeto delante del verbo, y nada de do.
