Oración condicional de tipo 3
Salió de otra manera — y eso ya no cambia.
El tipo 3 habla de lo pasado, que podría haber ido de otro modo. La oración con if va en Past Perfect y la principal con would have más la tercera forma: If I had known, I would have come.
Las dos partes son irreales: no lo supe y no vine. Por eso este tipo expresa casi siempre lamento, reproche o una explicación dada después.
El español tiene la construcción exacta con el pluscuamperfecto de subjuntivo y el condicional compuesto: «si lo hubiera sabido, habría venido». La correspondencia es completa, forma por forma, y basta con no añadir nada: en inglés have se queda en have y nunca se convierte en had.

Las formas mixtas son posibles si la consecuencia llega al presente.

La forma española coincide, así que el peligro no está en construirla mal sino en dudar de ella. Escrito en inglés, would have mantiene have en todas las personas y en todos los casos: no hay ningún «hubiera» que traducir dentro de la principal, ni ningún had que añadir.
if had done, would have done. Nunca al revés, nunca dos veces.
