Una trampa típica

Incorrecto He said me that the meeting was cancelled.

Correcto He told me that the meeting was cancelled.

El truco es formal y no de significado: si detrás del verbo viene directamente un me, him o us, tiene que ser tell. «Me dijo» es He told me, nunca He said me. Y al revés, He told that … tampoco existe: tell sin persona no se usa.
