Ahí van had to y was able to, no must have ni could have.

Los significados sí hay que separarlos: must have es el razonamiento seguro, cannot have su contrario, should have el reproche o el lamento, could have la ocasión perdida, may have y might have la suposición.

Die Regeln im Einzelnen

It must have rained during the night.Tiene que haber llovido por la noche.

  2. should have dice que algo no ocurrió aunque habría sido lo correcto.

I should have booked earlier.Debería haber reservado antes.

  3. could have puede ser también un reproche: habría sido posible.

You could have said something!¡Podrías haber dicho algo!

  4. Se escribe siempre have, nunca of.

I would have called if I had known.Habría llamado si lo hubiera sabido.

Die typisch deutsche Falle

Aufgepasst

Lo mismo con «pude arreglarlo», que es I was able to fix it y no I could have fixed it, frase esta última que dice justamente que no lo arreglé.

Falsch:I must have waited an hour at the station yesterday.
Richtig:I had to wait an hour at the station yesterday.

Modal más have más tercera forma; have no cambia nunca.
