中文母语者最容易踩的坑

注意

中文的“等……的时候”“一……就……”常常带着将来的意思，比如“我一到就给你打电话”。于是学习者把 will 放进两个部分：As soon as I will arrive, I will call you。英语的时间从句和条件从句一样，用一般现在时表示将来：As soon as I arrive, I will call you。另外要分清 when 和 if：确定会发生的事用 when，不确定的用 if。

错误：As soon as I will arrive, I will call you.

正确：As soon as I arrive, I will call you.

时间状语从句由 when、while、as、before、after、since、until、as soon as 和 once 引导，说明主句的动作在什么时候发生。

最重要的规则在“将来时”一章已经出现过：这些词后面永远不用 will，将来的意思只由主句承担。中文“等我到了家，我会给你打电话”，两个部分都可以带将来的意味；英语只在主句里说：I will call you when I get home。

when 和 while 的区别：while 用于持续进行的较长过程，常配进行时；when 用于一个时间点或短暂的事件：While I was cooking, the phone rang。中文的“……的时候”两种情况都能用，英语要分开。

还要注意：中文“……的时候”放在从句末尾，英语的 when 放在从句开头。when 只表示时间，不表示条件；一件不确定会不会发生的事，要用 if。
