Una trampa típica

Incorrecto It will be five o’clock — I can hear the bells.

Correcto It must be five o’clock — I can hear the bells.

El futuro español mira en dos direcciones y el inglés solo en una. «Serán las cinco» y «estará en casa» hablan del presente, y traducidos con will dicen otra cosa: en inglés eso se hace con must o con probably. Y en sentido contrario, el presente español del ofrecimiento — «te ayudo», «ya lo cojo» — sí necesita will.
