Una trampa típica

Incorrecto I watched television when the storm started.

Correcto I was watching television when the storm started.

El imperfecto español es la fuente del error, porque cubre a la vez el fondo del relato y la costumbre. «Cuando era joven trabajaba en una oficina» es I used to work o I worked, no I was working; pero «trabajaba cuando llamaste» sí es I was working. El inglés separa con dos formas lo que el español reúne en una.
