Hello everyone,
I hope you are all looking forward to next week as much as I am. I am writing with an important change to our route, so please read this message carefully, even if you usually skim my emails.
Following the heavy rain at the end of last month, part of the mountain path between the two villages we were planning to walk on day four has been damaged by a landslide. The local authorities have closed it until further notice, and although repairs have started, nobody can tell us when it will open again. Rather than wait and hope, I have decided to change the plan now.
Instead of crossing the pass, we will take a lower route along the valley on day four. It is slightly longer, but considerably easier, and it passes two lakes that I think many of you will enjoy more than the original view. On day five, we will take the local train for the first section, which means our luggage transfer will now leave the hotel half an hour earlier, at eight o’clock.
There are two things I need from you. First, if anyone was really keen on the high pass and would like to do an extra day walk to its other side from our base on day six, please let me know by Friday so that I can arrange a local guide. Second, the train ticket for day five is included in the price, but I need everyone’s full name as it appears in their passport.
I realise that changes like this can be hard to accept, above all if the pass was the reason you booked. Please understand that safety has to come first, and that the new route was walked by our team only last week.
If you have any questions, just reply to this email.
Warm regards,
Johanna
Hello everyone,
I hope you are looking forward to next week. I am writing about an important change to our route, so please read this carefully.
After the heavy rain last month, part of the mountain path for day four was damaged by a landslide. The path is closed, and nobody knows when it will open again. So I have decided to change the plan now.
On day four, we will take a lower route along the valley instead of crossing the pass. It is a little longer, but much easier, and it goes past two lakes. On day five, we will take the local train for the first part. That means our luggage will leave the hotel half an hour earlier, at eight o’clock.
I need two things from you. First, some of you may really want to see the high pass. If you want to do an extra day walk to the other side of the pass on day six, please tell me by Friday. Then I can find a local guide. Second, the train ticket for day five is included in the price, but I need your full name as it is in your passport.
I know that this change can be hard to accept. But safety comes first, and our team walked the new route last week.
If you have any questions, just answer this email.
Warm regards,
Johanna
