Complaint About Our Room
Un e-mail de réclamation à un hôtel : la réservation portait sur autre chose.
Une réclamation formelle. Observe la structure (les faits, le problème, la demande) et les formules polies mais fermes comme I would therefore like to ask ….
To the hotel management,
I am writing about our stay at your hotel from 3 to 7 May (booking number 48211). We had booked and paid in advance for a double room with a sea view and a balcony.
When we arrived late on the first evening, we were told that this room was no longer available and were given a room on the ground floor, facing the car park. The receptionist promised that we would be moved the next morning. However, nothing happened, and when I asked again, I was told that the hotel was fully booked for the rest of the week.
The room itself was clean, but it was noisy until late at night, and the window could not be opened because of the smell from the kitchen. Since the view was the main reason we had chosen your hotel, we were very disappointed.
I would therefore like to ask for a partial refund of the difference between the two room types for all four nights. I have attached a copy of the booking confirmation and two photographs of the room we were given.
I look forward to hearing from you within the next two weeks.
Kind regards,
Clara Hoffmann
To the hotel management,
We stayed at your hotel from 3 to 7 May (booking number 48211). We booked and paid for a double room with a sea view and a balcony.
When we arrived, the receptionist said that this room was not free. We got a room on the ground floor, next to the car park. The receptionist said they would give us a new room the next morning. But nothing happened. Then they told us that the hotel was full for the whole week.
The room was clean, but it was very loud at night. We could not open the window because of the smell from the kitchen. We chose your hotel because of the view, so we were very disappointed.
Please pay back the difference between the two rooms for all four nights. I have added a copy of our booking and two photographs of our room.
I hope to hear from you in the next two weeks.
Kind regards,
Clara Hoffmann

we were told · were given a room · could not be opened
Une lettre de réclamation contient beaucoup de passifs — qui a agi exactement n’a pas d’importance : we were told, were given, could not be opened. Former le passif →
were given a room
Avec les verbes à deux compléments, c’est souvent la personne qui devient sujet : we were given a room plutôt que a room was given to us. Le passif à deux objets →
look forward to hearing
Après look forward to vient la forme en -ing : I look forward to hearing from you. Les verbes avec -ing →
