La trappola tipica

Sbagliato I am looking forward to meet you.

Giusto I am looking forward to meeting you.

L'italiano mette l'infinito dietro ogni preposizione, e da lì escono after to eat, without to say, thanks for come. E il gerundio italiano non aiuta: «nuotando fa bene» non è italiano, quindi non c'è nessun modello da copiare. In look forward to e be used to il to è una preposizione: la prova è se lì starebbe un nome — I look forward to the weekend ci sta, quindi -ing.
