The Interview
Paula tiene una entrevista de trabajo, y el autobús se para.
Una historia en Simple Past. Fíjate en los verbos irregulares (got, left, ran, went) y en las horas: ¿llega Paula realmente tarde?
Last Tuesday, Paula had a job interview at a hotel in the city centre. The interview was at ten o’clock. Paula got up early, put on her best blue jacket and left the house at nine.
The bus came, but after ten minutes it stopped. "Sorry, everyone," the driver said. "There is a problem with the engine. Please wait for the next bus." Paula looked at her watch. It was twenty past nine.
She did not wait. She ran through the park and along the river. When she arrived at the hotel, it was five past ten. Her face was red, and she was very nervous.
A man at the front desk smiled. "Are you here for the interview? Please sit down. Mrs Clark is not here yet. Her train is late."
Mrs Clark arrived at half past ten. The interview went very well. At the end, Mrs Clark asked: "Why do you want this job?" Paula answered: "Because I like people, and I am never late." They both laughed.
