Die Reklamation

A new washing machine, a terrible noise and a morning spent waiting for the technician.

Complaints and repairs. The story is told in the simple past, and what was said on the telephone is reported in the subjunctive I — dass die Maschine noch Garantie habe, ein Techniker werde kommen. Watch the fixed phrase zum Glück, which German likes to put at the very start of a sentence.
