What is in a German toolbox, and the verbs for using it.

Two everyday verbs mean opposite things here and are worth fixing early: anziehen tightens a screw and lösen loosens it — the same anziehen as putting on a coat, and the same lösen as solving a problem. Note too that German names a tool after what it does: der Schraubenzieher pulls screws, der Seitenschneider cuts from the side, and once that is seen most of this list can be read rather than learned.
