The First Morning
Lena gets up at six. It is dark and the flat is cold. She makes tea and drinks it at the window. The street is quiet. A man walks with his dog.
Today Lena starts her new work. Her coat is at the door. She eats bread with butter. She washes the cup. At seven she goes out into the cold.
The bus is late. A woman with a small child waits. The child looks at Lena, and Lena says hello. Then the bus comes. It is full, and Lena is at the door.
At eight she is there. A man opens the door. "You are Lena," he says. "I am Bo. This is your table." The table is by the window. It is very clean.
At eleven Bo brings coffee. They talk about the weather and about the rain. Lena is tired, but she is happy. The first morning is over.
