To educate es instruir, dar formación escolar: she was educated in Scotland. Educar en el sentido de criar, de enseñar a comportarse, es to bring up o to raise: she brought up three children alone, y el sustantivo es upbringing. Decir she educated three children suena a que les dio clase.
