Watch out
English “still” and “yet” both feel like jeszcze, so English speakers reach for jeszcze nie whenever there is a negative. But “not any more” is już nie, literally “already not”: jeszcze nie is only “not yet”.

The full explanation

jużmeans “already”jeszcze“still”: Już jestem — I’m here already; Jeszcze pracuję — I am still working. With nie they swap roles: jeszcze nie means “not yet”, już nie “not any more, no longer”. Jeszcze nie jadłem — I haven’t eaten yet; Już tu nie mieszkam — I don’t live here any more.
chyba makes a statement cautious, like “I think”, “probably” or “I suppose”: Chyba pada — I think it’s raining. Chyba nie means “I don’t think so”. przecież reminds somebody of what they already know, like a tag question or “after all”: Przecież wiesz! — you know that, don’t you!
dopiero means “only” in the sense of “not until” or “no more than (so far)”: Jest dopiero ósma“it’s only eight”Przyjdę dopiero jutro“I won’t come until tomorrow” tylko means “only” in the sense of “just, nothing more”: Mam tylko dziesięć złotych. English uses “only” for both; Polish makes you choose.
Worth knowing2
Worth knowing
Two words for “only”
“It’s only eight” and “I’ve only got five złoty” use the same English word. Polish separates them: dopiero when something happens later, sooner or less than expected so far — Jest dopiero ósma; tylko for “just this much and no more” — Mam tylko pięć złotych. A film that starts at nine and not before starts dopiero o dziewiątej.
Film zaczyna się dopiero o dziewiątej. The film doesn’t start until nine.
Worth knowing
no — the Polish “well”
You will hear the little word no all the time. It means “well”, “so” or “yeah”, depending on the tone: No i co? — So what? No dobrze — oh, all right. No tak — oh, of course. On its own no is a casual “yeah”, for example in answer to Idziesz?. And it softens a request: No chodź! — oh, come on!
No dobrze, idę z wami.Oh, all right, I’ll come with you.
