The first verbs
Going and coming, eating and drinking, seeing, saying and the other verbs every first conversation needs.
A Hindi verb is learnt in its infinitive ending in -ना and used as its stem plus an ending: बोलना → बोलता हूँ, बोला, बोलिए. The verb comes at the end of the sentence. In the past, a transitive verb takes ने after its subject and agrees with the object instead (मैंने चाय पी); an intransitive one does not (मैं गया). The few verbs with an irregular past — गया, किया, दिया, लिया, हुआ — are marked.
