The market, the bank and the post office, temples, mosques and gurdwaras, and the lane you live in.
Many places in an Indian town are named with English words written in Devanagari — बैंक, स्कूल, स्टेशन — and they are ordinary Hindi now. Hindi has its own words for the rest, and some carry a little more than the English: होटल can be a simple eating house, and a ढाबा is a roadside eatery. A place is “in” with में: बाज़ार में, दफ़्तर में.
