Town, transport and travel
Places in town, transport, asking the way, hotels, and sightseeing.
What holds these lists together
Getting around India means trains, buses, autorickshaws and a great deal of asking: स्टेशन कहाँ है? is answered with सीधे जाइए, बाएँ मुड़िए and a landmark rather than a street name. The postpositions do most of the work — के पास, के सामने, के पीछे — and English loanwords stand beside Hindi ones: a टिकट is bought at a खिड़की. The lists go from the places in a town to booking a room and to seeing the sights, with the forts, temples and ghats that make up a journey.
