Der Schlüssel

A key is missing, and the search goes through every pocket.

A text about places: in, auf, unter, neben. When something simply is somewhere, these prepositions take the dative — in der Tasche, auf dem Tisch, neben der Tasse. When somebody moves somewhere, they take the accusative: Tom setzt sich auf die Treppe.

Lisa lacht. Tom sagt nichts.
