Physics and engineering in German

Force, energy and measurement — the vocabulary of a German school physics lesson and a technical manual alike.

German keeps two everyday words apart that English blurs. Die Spannung is voltage — and also suspense in a novel and tension between people, all from the same idea of something being stretched. And die Leistung is power in the physical sense, as well as performance and an achievement; the unit is the same watt as everywhere else.
