Dear Host Family
A thank-you letter to a host family, written a month after going home.
A letter in polite style. Letters open with the season and close with good wishes; in between, the writer uses ~te kurete, ~you ni naru and ~ka dou ka to talk about what changed.
鈴木さんのご家族へ。お元気ですか。こちらはもう秋になって、朝晩はだいぶ涼しくなりました。
日本から帰って、もう一か月がたちました。三か月の間、本当にお世話になりました。最初は日本語がほとんど話せなくて、毎日心配ばかりしていましたが、皆さんがいつもゆっくり話してくれたおかげで、少しずつ分かるようになりました。
特に、お母さんと一緒に料理をした時間が忘れられません。今でも一週間に一度は、教えていただいた料理を作っています。家族も「おいしい」と言って喜んでいます。
今は大学で日本語の勉強を続けています。来年、もう一度日本へ行けるかどうか、まだ分かりませんが、そのためにアルバイトをしてお金をためています。
また会える日を楽しみにしています。どうぞお元気で。エマより。
