L’ufficio era al terzo piano, senza ascensore, e quando sono arrivata avevo già caldo. Alla reception una signora mi ha detto di aspettare, e ho aspettato venti minuti guardando la strada dalla finestra.
La stanza era piccola: due sedie, una scrivania, uno schermo spento. Il capo del reparto è entrato con due caffè e ne ha lasciato uno davanti a me, senza chiedere se lo volevo. Poi ha detto: mi parli di lei.
Ho parlato per cinque minuti del lavoro di prima, della ditta piccola dove ho imparato tutto e dove non potevo più crescere. Lui ascoltava e non scriveva niente, e questo mi ha reso più nervosa di una domanda difficile.
Poi ha chiesto perché volevo cambiare, e io ho detto la verità: penso che sia il momento giusto, e vorrei lavorare dove le cose si decidono. Lui ha sorriso per la prima volta e ha detto che era una risposta onesta.
Alla fine ha guardato l’orologio e ha detto che mi avrebbe scritto entro venerdì. Sono scesa a piedi, tre piani, e fuori faceva ancora caldo. Non sapevo se era andata bene, e per un’ora questo non mi ha lasciata.
