People, family and feelings
Family and relatives, character, relationships, and the feelings people have about each other.
What holds these lists together
The family words are the first place where Hindi draws lines English does not. An uncle is चाचा, ताऊ, मामा, मौसा or फूफा, depending on whose brother or husband he is, and a grandmother is दादी or नानी. Older people are addressed with a kinship word even when they are no relation — भैया, दीदी, आंटी — and a name takes जी for respect. Feelings, for their part, often happen to a person rather than being done: मुझे ग़ुस्सा आया, anger came to me; उसे डर लगता है, fear strikes him. The lists go from the family tree to character, friendship and the attitudes people take.
