Language in use

Hindi for work

Greeting colleagues, asking permission and talking about meetings and deadlines: Hindi in the office.

30 sentences · 3 dialogues · 17 words

Why this field

Many offices in India work in English, but Hindi is the language of the corridor, the canteen and the people who keep the place running. Colleagues notice and appreciate a few sentences of Hindi.

Office Hindi mixes freely with English — मीटिंग, रिपोर्ट, प्रोजेक्ट — and is polite through आप, जी and the forms of request. This page shows both.
