Colleagues, applications, promotions, deadlines, meetings and the factory floor.
Office Hindi mixes three layers freely. Formal words stand in letters and notices (आवेदन, प्रशिक्षण, नियुक्त करना); everyday words carry the conversation (तनख़्वाह, तरक़्क़ी, इस्तीफ़ा); and English fills the rest (प्रोजेक्ट, रिपोर्ट, शिफ़्ट). An English loan takes a gender like any other noun, and it is worth learning: रिपोर्ट and फ़ाइल are feminine.
