Der erste Tag
A first day at a new job, from the alarm clock to the evening.
The easiest text in this series. Almost everything is in the present tense, and the sentences are short. Watch the word order: in a German main clause the verb always comes second, so after Um sieben Uhr comes the verb geht, and only then er.
Jonas steht um sechs Uhr auf. Er trinkt einen Kaffee und isst ein Brot. Heute ist sein erster Tag im Büro.
Um sieben Uhr geht er aus dem Haus. Es ist kalt. Er nimmt den Bus. Der Bus ist voll, und Jonas steht an der Tür.
Um acht Uhr ist er im Büro. Eine Frau sagt: „Guten Morgen! Ich bin Frau Weber. Hier ist Ihr Tisch.“ Der Tisch steht am Fenster.
Am Vormittag lernt Jonas viele Kollegen kennen. Um zwölf Uhr essen alle zusammen. Am Abend ist Jonas müde, aber froh. Der erste Tag war gut.
