French on the ground: housing, bank and paperwork

Tenancy agreement, bank account, town hall and post office: French for anyone moving to a French-speaking country.

Why this field

When you move abroad, you need French not just for a chat at the table but for forms, tenancy agreements and appointments. Little can be sorted out with gestures there, and much has to be right the first time.

Official French is formal and full of set expressions. It looks foreign, but it repeats itself a lot: proof, application, deadline, appointment. Know these words and you will understand most of any letter.
