A common trap

Wrong Regarde ces nuages : il pleuvra.

Right Regarde ces nuages : il va pleuvoir.

What you can already see coming takes the futur proche. Point at the clouds and say il pleuvra, and you sound like the weather forecast describing a sky you are looking at — the right form is il va pleuvoir, just as English says «it's going to rain» there and not «it will rain». The reverse is no mistake: Ce soir, je téléphonerai à ma mère is good French and only sounds a little more settled than je vais téléphoner.
