Benim ailem

Elif introduces her family: her parents, her brother and an evening round the table.

The easiest text in this series. Watch the possessive endings: annem (my mother), babam (my father), evimiz (our house). You do not need a word for “my” — the ending already says it. And notice that “is” is often no word at all in Turkish: Annem öğretmen. means “My mother is a teacher.” — with no “is” and no “a”.

Babam doktor. Hastanede çalışıyor.

Kardeşimin adı Can. O on altı yaşında. Can öğrenci. Çok kitap okuyor.

Akşam birlikte yemek yiyoruz. Sonra çay içiyoruz ve konuşuyoruz. Ben ailemi çok seviyorum.
