Pazar kahvaltısı

A long Sunday breakfast with the whole family.

Everything is in the present tense in -iyor: kalkıyor, getiriyor, okuyor. Watch var, “there is”: Masada çok şey var. “There is a lot on the table” — literally “on the table many things exist”. And de, “too”, written separately after its word: Yumurta da var.

Bugün pazar. Mehmet bugün çalışmıyor. Saat dokuzda kalkıyor.

Mutfakta annesi çay yapıyor. Masada çok şey var: ekmek, peynir, zeytin, domates, salatalık, bal ve tereyağı. Yumurta da var.

Mehmet'in kız kardeşi Zeynep de geliyor. Zeynep ekmek getiriyor. Ekmek sıcak ve çok güzel.

Herkes masada oturuyor. Babası telefona bakıyor. Annesi gülüyor ve söylüyor: “Lütfen, telefon değil, kahvaltı!”

Kahvaltı çok uzun. Saat on ikide hâlâ masadalar. Pazar kahvaltısı Mehmet için çok önemli.
