Free time, media and technology
Hobbies, sport and games, films and music, the phone and the internet, and technology.
What holds these lists together
Free time is where Hindi borrows most freely from English: cricket has its own commentary in Hindi full of English words, and a phone is charged, recharged and downloaded in a mixture nobody thinks twice about. The verbs, though, are Hindi, and they are the part to learn: a game is played with खेलना, an instrument with बजाना, a film is watched with देखना. Hindi films and their songs are a shared language of their own, and the lists climb from hobbies to the media and the technology that carries them.
