The language of the newsroom and the stage is largely Sanskrit-based — पत्रकार, संपादक, अभिनेता, निर्देशक — while film talk is full of English: a film is रिलीज़d, a video goes वायरल. A role in a film is a किरदार, and you play it with निभाना, the same verb you keep a promise with.
