What is in the river, what is at the fish counter, and what it takes to catch one legally.
One thing here is a rule rather than a word and explains half the vocabulary: fishing in Germany needs der Angelschein, a licence taken after a course and an examination, so the language around angling is more formal than the English equivalent. At the counter, note that der Kabeljau and der Dorsch are the same fish under two names, depending on where it was caught.
