Furniture, fittings and the boxes — plus the two things a German flat usually does not come with.
Two surprises await anybody renting in Germany for the first time. A flat often comes without a fitted kitchen: die Küchenzeile belongs to the previous tenant and is either bought from them or installed yourself. And light fittings are frequently missing too, so the handover can be a bare wire hanging from the ceiling. Both are normal and neither is a fault to report.
