Le cours de français
Eight months of a language course, and the day it works for the first time.
A text about learning itself, and the only one in this series that ends in the past: il a acheté, elle a répondu, c’était. It appears exactly where the text tells what happened once — and nowhere else.
Marc étudie le français depuis huit mois. Il va à un cours trois fois par semaine, le soir, après le travail.
Le cours commence à sept heures. Il y a douze élèves et une professeure qui parle lentement. Le premier mois Marc comprenait peu ; maintenant il comprend presque tout.
Le plus difficile n’est pas la grammaire, c’est écouter. Dans la rue les gens parlent vite et il perd la moitié des mots. La professeure dit que c’est normal et que ça passe avec le temps.
À la maison Marc lit un texte court chaque soir et écrit les mots nouveaux dans un cahier. Le dimanche il révise tout encore une fois.
La semaine dernière il a acheté le pain sans réfléchir à la phrase avant. La vendeuse a répondu, il a compris, et personne n’a parlé anglais. C’était le meilleur jour du cours.
