网购的词汇看上去很简单，但有几个常见动词意思比中文宽得多。to check out 在网店里是“去结账”，在酒店是“退房”，在图书馆却是“借出”——同一个词，三件事。中文说“下单”，英语不说 make an order，而说 place an order。还要注意被动语态：钱是“被退回来的”，卡是“被扣了两次款”，所以英语说 I was refunded、my card was charged twice，主语是你自己或你的卡，而不是商家。
