What holds these lists together

The lists for time that belongs to you: on the beach, at the campsite, at a party, in training, over a chessboard. They belong together because they share a situation — you are among people who are not making an effort to be understood, and the words come fast and in passing. English «play» splits in two here: you jogar a game or a sport, jogar futebol, jogar às cartas, but you tocar an instrument. And the swimming costume is o fato de banho, because in Portugal o fato is a suit, not a fact; the fact is o facto.
