Wakacje nad morzem

A week on the Baltic: sun, rain, a trip to Gdańsk and a lost wallet.

The first story in the past tense. Watch the endings: pojechali, mieszkali, leżeli — for Magda and Paweł together the verb takes the form for a group with a man in it, in -li. English “they went” never shows who “they” are. And watch the destination: nad morze (where to, accusative) beside nad morzem (where, instrumental).

W lipcu Magda i Paweł pojechali na wakacje nad morze. Najpierw jechali pociągiem do Gdańska, a potem autobusem do małej wsi nad morzem.

Mieszkali w małym hotelu blisko plaży. Pokój nie był duży, ale miał balkon.

Pierwszego dnia pogoda była piękna. Cały dzień leżeli na plaży, pływali w morzu i jedli lody.

Drugiego dnia padał deszcz. Magda chciała zostać w hotelu, ale Paweł powiedział: „Jedźmy do Gdańska!” Pojechali więc do miasta i zwiedzali muzeum.

Ostatniego dnia Paweł zgubił portfel na plaży. Na szczęście ktoś go znalazł i przyniósł do hotelu. To były bardzo dobre wakacje.
