U lekarza

Tomasz has a cold, rings the office and goes to the doctor.

The past tense and the body. Watch boleć: what hurts is the subject and the person is in the accusative — Bolała go głowa., literally “the head hurt him”. And watch the doctor’s polite question with pan, where English simply says “you”: Co pana boli?

W poniedziałek rano Tomasz wstał i źle się czuł. Bolała go głowa i gardło, miał katar i gorączkę.

Zadzwonił do pracy i powiedział, że jest chory. Potem zadzwonił do lekarza i umówił się na wizytę.

Lekarka była bardzo miła. Zapytała: „Co pana boli?” Tomasz odpowiedział: „Głowa i gardło. I mam gorączkę.”

Lekarka obejrzała gardło i powiedziała: „To nic poważnego. Musi pan dużo pić i odpoczywać. Proszę brać te tabletki rano i wieczorem.”

Tomasz poszedł do apteki i kupił tabletki. Przez trzy dni leżał w łóżku, pił gorącą herbatę i oglądał filmy. W czwartek znowu czuł się dobrze i wrócił do pracy.
