Many place names are built from an ending that says what kind of place it is. -집, “house”, is a small place run by its owner (빵집, 고깃집); -점 is a shop (서점, 안경점); -관 a building with a purpose (박물관, 영화관); -소 a place where a service is done (세탁소, 정비소) and -서 a public office (경찰서); -장 an open place or ground (주차장, 스키장); -방 a room you pay to use (빨래방, 만화방). Learn the endings and many new places can be guessed.
