Traffic and road safety

Driving, crossing, parking, and what happens when something goes wrong on the road.

An accident in Korean is not something you have but something that comes out: 사고가 나다. A driver who causes one 사고를 내다, “puts one out”. Korea drives on the right, and the lights are named by colour, 빨간불 and 초록불, though many people call green 파란불, “the blue light”. Signs and announcements use the formal -습니다 style; in conversation the same words come with -아요.
