City life
Streets, neighbourhoods, traffic and what makes a place good to live in.
Most people in Korean cities live in flats, in large estates called 아파트 단지, with a row of shops at the bottom (상가) and narrow lanes (골목) behind the main roads. Note that 아파트 means a flat in a high-rise block and the block or estate as well; a low-rise block is a 빌라. Many of these words are Sino-Korean, so they come in families: 도시, 대도시, 신도시.
