More about this list
Where English says “it”, Turkish names what is happening: yağmur yağıyor “it is raining”, literally “rain is falling”, and kar yağıyor “it is snowing”. What the weather is like, a sentence with hava says: hava sıcak “it is warm”, literally “the air is warm”. With -li a noun becomes an adjective, much like English -y: güneş → güneşli “sunny”, bulut → bulutlu “cloudy”. “In summer” and “in winter” are fixed forms: yazın, kışın.
