More about this list

In Turkey the neighbourhood, mahalle, is more than an address: people know the baker, the greengrocer and the neighbours opposite, and new neighbours often get some food left at the door. Many verbs in this list end in -laşmak or -ışmak, an ending that turns an action into something two sides do to each other — English needs “each other” for it: selamlaşmak“to greet each other”yardımlaşmak“to help each other” With whom then takes -le: komşularla selamlaşmak.
