More about this list

An opinion in Turkish often starts with a single word: bence“in my opinion”sence“what do you think?” To disagree, you reach for ama, fakat or ancak — from everyday to formal, like “but”, “however”, “nevertheless”. Many verbs of opinion take a case where English uses a preposition: bu fikre karşı çıkmak“to be against this idea” (dative)bu konuda emin olmak“to be sure about this” (locative) And rağmen “despite” follows the word, with the dative in front: yağmura rağmen “despite the rain”.
