More about this list

For “to repair” there are two words: tamir etmek and onarmak. Both mean the same; for a bicycle or a washing machine you usually hear the first, for roads and buildings often the second. Much damage is described with a verb that has no object: lavabo tıkandı“the sink is blocked”elektrik kesildi“the power is off” And to have something done rather than doing it yourself, add -tır: musluğu tamir ettirdik “we had the tap repaired”.
