Organising work in Spanish

Project, task, ownership, deadline — how work is planned and replanned.

Two languages, two money pictures for the same idea. English says something takes its toll: a charge collected at a barrier as you go past, paid on the spot. Spanish sends the bill afterwards. Pasar factura is to put the invoice through, and el cansancio pasó factura en marzo means the tiredness turned up as a cost months later. The delay is the whole point of the phrase: la carga de trabajo desigual pasa factura says an uneven load will be paid for, not that it hurts now. The same words do the ordinary office job as well — pasar una factura is simply to invoice somebody.
