La franja de disponibilidad is the band of hours everybody has to be reachable, and la franja is one Spanish word for three English ones. It is the band of colour across a flag; it is a strip of land, una franja de terreno; and it is the slot on a clock, la franja horaria, which is what a broadcaster sells and what a rota divides. English picks band, strip or slot depending on whether the thing is coloured, walked on or timed, but the picture under all three is the same: something far longer than it is wide.
