Policy, premium, duty, recovery — the words that decide a claim.
El ramo is a branch, and Spanish takes it to three places English cannot follow all the way. On a tree it is a branch, though la rama is the commoner word there. In a flower shop it is the bouquet: un ramo de flores. And in business it is the line or the sector — el ramo de la construcción, and here the class of insurance a policy belongs to. English has « branch » for the tree and for the business and then reaches for a French loan in the florist's. Spanish keeps all three in one word, and in a report about insurance nobody has ever read el ramo as flowers.
